In season five of The Crown, which is now streaming on Netflix, Elizabeth Debicki assumes the role of Princess Diana. The show’s penultimate season follows the characters through the 1990s, arguably the most tumultuous for the Royal Family, with Diana and Charles’ marriage on the rocks and the eyes of the entire world on them. The season follows the couple through their ups and downs, leading to their inevitable divorce. In real life, through the rough press field day, Lady Di still managed to serve looks and the show’s costume designers captured some of her most memorable looks, from the seminal Revenge Dress to everyday business casual ensembles, to a tee — quite literally.

The drama was cranked up this season, and so was the fashion. The show’s costume design was done by Emmy award winner Amy Roberts, who told Glamour that she didn’t want to replicate all of the outfits completely. Instead, she wanted to make sure there was room for the team to put their spin on some of Lady Di’s most iconic ensembles

As mentioned above, season five features some of the late princess’s unforgettable outfits that are still recreated by many today, including her comfort-chic stylings of a Harvard crew neck paired with bike shorts. It also features some of her most elegant and luxe looks that have been cemented in time by photographs. Some of the outfits were a slight departure from the original pieces that the Princess of Wales wore — intentionally, as Roberts states — but the essence of her evergreen style was perfectly captured.

Below, see some of the best recreations of Lady Di’s looks from season 5 of The Crown and how they compare to their IRL inspiration:
