After almost 4 years of hiatus, Adele Atkins came back with a bang with the release of her “25” album in late 2015. The moment she released her single, “Hello”, it became an instant sensation. Just like her previous albums, Adele’s new music features songs about heartbreak, separation and falling out of love. Adele has definitely mastered the art of singing songs about pain.

There is no wonder why her song “Hello” garnered 1.2 million digital downloads and 61.2 million streams on its first week alone. It debuted first on the Billboard Top 100. Of course, it wasn’t the first time her song debuted on top. It was already the 4th of Adele’s singles to have ranked first upon release. “Hello” took the world by storm and it made her sell over 10 million album copies in the United States alone by late 2016.

To top it off, she raked all the awards she was nominated for at the Grammys 2017, including Album of the Year. People loved her even more when she dedicated her win to Beyoncé, whom everyone was expecting to take home Album of the Year. She showed her love for Queen B and how she was inspired by her songs. She also said that Beyoncé’s Lemonade was monumental and she felt embarrassed to accept the award. She even voted for Lemonade to win, as she revealed it in a backstage interview.

There was one more thing that she revealed during her speech that not many people might have noticed. She thanked her husband and son, revealing that she has already gotten married.

Although that was the highlight of the night, Adele had tons of great moments during the show. She opened the Grammys with “Hello” and it was phenomenal as always. It was a perfect rendition of the song, seemingly to redeem herself after her disastrous performance of “All I Ask” last year. She has also given a tribute to George Michael. She even cursed on stage and asked the band to repeat the performance because she wanted it to be perfect.

Send My Love (To Your New Lover)

Adele’s new song, “Send My Love” was her latest single release. It was a part of her 2015 “25” album. The song is somewhat upbeat with a hint of Indian music in it. However, just like all her other songs, it was still a message about falling out of love and ending a relationship with someone. This time though, it was more positive. The lyrics include “Send my love to your new lover, treat her better, we’ve gotta let go of all our ghosts”. The song speaks volume about acceptance. Adele’s music video also showed her in a sunny mood. It was about forgiveness and setting an ex-lover free. This was a bit different with her songs in the past, which were mostly about revenge, anger, and holding on.

Adele is undoubtedly a global phenomenon. There is no wonder why her concerts around the world have been doing really well. In fact, her 2016 concerts were extremely successful. If you are yet to see her live, she will continue her world tour in 2017. She has upcoming concerts in Perth, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand. She also has shows lined up in London in the middle of the year.

No more age-based album

Although all her albums named after her age upon release became successful, Adele said that her next albums will no longer reflect her age. Therefore, if you are thinking that Adele’s new release will be named 29 or 30, it is not going to happen (at least for now). She had this revelation during the Carpool Karaoke session she had with James Corden’s The Late Late Show. Corden even joked about it and said he was hoping Adele will continue releasing an album based on her age until she is 77.

It was also during the show where Adele joked about forming her own squad. She would have loved to be on a squad with Beyoncé, Amy Schumer, Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence. Her squad would battle that of Taylor Swift’s.

Without a doubt, Adele is on the peak of her success right now. She has broken records with her album sales, hit songs and Grammy awards. She is obviously gearing up for more. Considering her vocal abilities and the kind of songs she has created, she will most likely soar higher in the years to come.
