Advantages of Being a Video Game Tester

Google Sites

For the average game whether your platform is PC or Xbox, being a video game tester seems like a dream job. You get to do what you enjoy all day and yes, you get paid for it! People may think that this job is a myth and no one ever actually becomes one. The reality is, companies that sell video games need an “expert’s” opinion. They aren’t looking for people coming out of university to tell them whether the game is good, they want people whose lives revolve around video games and can also provide them with good information.

So what are some of the advantages of this job?

· Getting a sneak peak – How would it feel to play the next best game before it even hits the shelves? Knowing everything about it before your friends? In my opinion, that would be pretty cool.

· Being the best at the game – Companies that test their video games typically start at least six months before launch to fix things that the testers may think is better or patch the glitches. Most people get very competitive when it comes to online games and a six month head start can really give you a boost. People will be wondering who on earth this amazing player is on the first day that the game is launched.

· Meeting other fellow gamers – How would you feel if you met some people who shared the same interests as you? Sure, there are millions of people who game online but getting your co-workers involved can make work time fun and a lot of social interaction will occur making the day even better.

· Doing what you love – This is the most obvious one. Most people aren’t too thrilled about their job. They worked so hard in school for it and come home absolutely exhausted. You are doing what you were already doing and loving all day. You take pride in your work and also showed a lot of appreciation for your expertise.

In conclusion, this is the dream job of many people. Openings are limited but if you get in then enjoy the good life! In order to get a job, some education is required. I recommend looking into an IT school so you at least have something on paper. Look into online positions as well and job classifieds. If you get into a big company, you’re set for life. Not only do you have your dream career but it pays well too. You would be very surprised.
