DIY Style TikToker Nava Rose On Her ThredUp Partnership and Rom-Com Core

If you’re part of #thrifttok or #fashiontiktok, you’ve probably seen a video or two from Nava Rose. Nava Rose, who calls herself “the girl with too many clothes,” has racked up a massive following of nearly 6 million on TikTok thanks to her colorful and cute style, clever DIY Halloween costume ideas and her recent commitment to quitting fast fashion and shopping more sustainably. Now, Nava is taking that commitment one step further by partnering with thredUP, one of the largest online resale platforms for women’s and kids’ apparel, shoes, and accessories.

Nava, who often posts thrifting trip videos and thrift flip tutorials, aims to show her followers that you can shop sustainably and stay on trend without resorting to fast fashion. According to a survey done by thredUP in partnership with GlobalData, she’s not alone; 71% of participants have resolved to be less wasteful and 38% want to shop secondhand more frequently. Gen Z in particular is concerned with fast fashion’s impact on the climate, and nearly half said they’re working to shop more sustainably this year.

Nava has been an avid thrifter for most of her life, but she freely admits that she has fallen victim to the convenience of ultra fast fashion. “I do understand [that when fast fashion brands] have so many styles, it gets so easy to shop them and it’s just so convenient,” she tells Teen Vogue. “When I fell into that side of the fast fashion world, I was like, ‘This is great. There’s so many trends, so many styles, and it’s really cheap.'” She decided to break the habit of shopping fast fashion and going back to thrifting and shopping secondhand. “It was just more of the letting go and breaking that bad habit of the convenience of fast fashion. But I’ve always loved thrifting, so it was pretty easy.”
