Lizzo Tried the Viral TikTok Beauty Trend of Adding Glittery Gloss to Dark Lipstick — Watch the Video

Lizzo definitely isn’t afraid to experiment with her glam. The Emmy-award winning superstar continues to gravitate towards bold, dramatic makeup hues, and recently added a sparkly touch to her dark lipstick. 

As evident by one of her recent TikTok videos, Lizzo is down to try out viral beauty trends. Working with her MUA Alexx Mayo, Lizzo put her spin on the recent glittery lip look. 

For the trend, users are adding a sparkly topcoat to a black matte lipstick base. Many users are gravitating towards the glittery, viral goodies offered by Queen Cosmetics, which also received the seal of approval from popular TikTok MUA Mikayla Nogueira.

Lizzo starts her look with a bare face, explaining, “We’re trying out these viral lip glosses and Alex just showed me a few videos and they look very very glossy and I’m like that has to be a filter.” She adds, “This is regular *ss lighting in my glam room and we’re gonna try and see if it’s as glossy as those videos.”

To create the look, Alexx uses a shade of “deep eggplant” as the base on Lizzo’s lips. He coats the entire lip with color before moving to the glitter. Lizzo’s eyes widen at the results, with Alexx saying that it “looks metallic.” 

It appears as if Lizzo liked the final look, as the shiny lips showed up in additional videos recorded that day. Followers also expressed similar admiration for the look, even suggesting that Lizzo begin a makeup tutorial series. 

This latest moment in dark lip comes after Lizzo debuted a black lip in a previous TikTok. The beauty routine was also created by Alexx and included the use of Mac’s Retro Matte Liquid Lip in the shade Caviar.

Just days later, Lizzo appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards, donning a trio of looks that included a deep blue gown with matching blue lips. Shades of red and pink will always have their place in the makeup world, but it might be time to take a cue from Lizzo and try out a unique color, too!
