Saweetie took the Teen Vogue Summit stage in Los Angeles this weekend to give some sage advice about the internet and how to preserve your energy.

“Tell your truth in the music,” the Teen Vogue cover star told editor Jewel Wicker. “I’m not about to go back and forth with a lie on social media. I’m not about to argue with somebody on social media. I’m gonna put that energy into my music and not online, where I ain’t getting no money from it.”

The rapper may be taking the high road and letting her life play out in the music rather than through Internet beef, but nobody said it was easy. Saweetie said she gets emotional during the recording process sometimes. “I’m laughing because sometimes I be in the studio straight crying. I’m like, ‘Hold up,’” she said at the event, which also featured speakers Keke Palmer and Sabrina Carpenter. “Pretty b*tches got feelings too.”

Saweetie recently revealed to Rolling Stone that she has plans to release a slate of projects before the new year: her highly-anticipated debut album Pretty Bitch Music and a second project called The Single Life, which will focus on her relationship and breakup with rapper Quavo.

“I’m excited to share what I went through,” she said. “I think as I was making it, I was more proud to be single. Because I realized that I was growing, I realized that I was elevating. I realized that I was becoming a better woman.”

Saweetie also added some advice about getting into business with powerful people: get your own lawyer and know your team. “If someone you’re doing business with is friends with a lawyer, they’re able to create a condensed contract. They’ll review the whole thing with you, but it’s condensed, which means that you don’t see the whole thing. There’re gonna be some loopholes, some backdoor deals.”
