Gladys’ peaked at #1 and # 2 on both the Billboard’s Hot 100 and R&B charts. Marvin had the same results a year later in 1968. Then in 1981 Hamilton’s, Ohio own Roger Troutman came along and did his rendition of the same titled song displaying his artistic talents’ with his talk-box and the song hit #1 on Billboard’s R&B charts.
