Sydney Sweeney Uses This $4 Trick to Remove Her Eye Makeup

Actor Sydney Sweeney is ready for bed — and her go-to trick to remove her eye makeup is one you can easily replicate for about $4.

In a new “Go to Bed with Me” video for Harper’s Bazaar, the Euphoria star shares her PM skin care routine and the products that help her go from her packed day job to a night of blissful slumber. She begins by saying she had a hard time finding a facial cleanser that worked for her, but she’s finally found The One: the Laneige Cream Skin Milk Oil Cleanser, which she applies while her face is dry and thoroughly rubs before rinsing with lukewarm water. (Sydney is a Laneige ambassador and the new face of the brand.)

“I learned most of my skin care from multiple different makeup artists or sets that I’ve worked on. Growing up I didn’t know skin care was an important thing,” Sydney explains of her journey thus far. Her next step is where the $4 trick comes in. Sydney applies good old Vaseline Healing Jelly Cocoa Butter to fully remove eye makeup. “I never liked the harsh rubbing of eye makeup,” she explains of her choice. “This Vaseline travels everywhere with me.”

The Vaseline makes a comeback later in her routine; Sydney uses it as an undereye cream and anywhere else she needs extra moisture. “I was finding that a lot of undereye creams or oils were not working for me,” she shares. “It would make my makeup sit [strangely] and I felt like my eyes were getting dry. I started doing this and it’s been a life-changer.”

Once a week, Sydney shares that she does a facial peel, using the classic Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel to exfoliate and smooth her skin. She also shares that her nighttime skin care routine is non-negotiable and never goes to bed in her makeup.”I refuse to sleep in my makeup. Even if I am exhausted and can’t keep my eyes open … the number one rule I’ve always followed is don’t sleep with makeup on,” she says.

Once her peel is complete, she applies her next step, the Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Serum. Because she travels a lot for work and experiences different climates, Sydney needs products to keep her skin moisturized. She uses the serum as a base for the Solawave Advanced Skincare Wand, which she uses every night to help even out her skin tone and calm any breakouts. “I started doing this during quarantine because I was trying to find new self-care,” she shares of the device discovery, which later impacted her Euphoria character Cassie’s routine. “I got really into face masks, bubble baths and a lot of Cassie’s products from her skincare routine were my products. My manic episode of skin care was also Cassie’s manic episode of skin care.”

For more moisture, Sydney opts for the Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cream Moisturizer. She says she gifted her costars on a movie in Albuquerque a bunch of Laneige products to help them tackle the dry climate too — that’s how much she likes the brand. She also applies the Water Sleeping Mask and Lip Sleeping Mask to hydrate both her skin and her lips as she sleeps. (Sydney also uses a prescription cream of adapalene and benzoyl peroxide to keep acne at bay.)
