“The Summer I Turned Pretty” Is Officially a Swiftie Show

The Summer I Turned Pretty is officially the most Swiftie TV show of all time. Not only did the series’ official trailer feature (and debut) Taylor Swift’s version of “This Love,” but the entire cast are confirmed TSwift fans.

TSITP stars Lola Tung, Gavin Casalegno, Christopher Briney, and Sean Kaufman recently stopped by IMDb to answer some of fans’ most burning questions, and of course were asked to share their favorite Taylor Swift songs. The cast happily obliged, and the result is a fire mini playlist.

Sean, who plays Steven, did not hesitate to pick “Hey Stephen” from Taylor’s 2008 album Fearless. “It’s Steven’s ringtone in the books, and I listen to it sometimes to get into character,” the actor elaborated. Lola, who plays Belly, favors a classic: “You Belong With Me,” from the same album. “It’s a good song to scream sing when you’re, you know, feeling all the emotions,” Lola adds. 

While Gavin (Jeremiah on the show) and Christopher (Conrad) did not get to pick any favorites in the video, they do go on a little tangent about TSwift’s music and how well it fits the show’s narrative. After Lola proclaims Taylor’s songs are “perfect” for TSITP, Christopher says he thinks “they’re used so well,” to which Gavin agrees. “The music that she has for the show fits so perfectly,” he muses.

But an all-around favorite track among the cast seems to be “The Way I Loved You,” which is used during the debutante ball scene in the new Prime Video series. “That’s a beautiful song,” Lola says. “Yeah, it fits the vibe so perfectly,” Gavin then adds, before Christopher goes on to share a cute behind-the-scenes nugget. 

“They played it while we were shooting it. The first time I heard it, I was like, ‘OK, guys.’ But then by the third take, I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ Like my whole body feels it.” In conclusion, and as Gavin puts it in the IMDb video: “I think we’re all Swifties.”
