This “XO, Kitty” Scene Was So Awkward for Sang Heon Lee to Do in Front of Sister Gia Kim
Ever since XO, Kitty stars Sang Heon Lee and Gia Kim revealed they were real-life siblings after the series premiere, fans have been privy to some of the cutest brother-sister moments online — from sweet birthday tributes with throwback pictures to relatable carpool karaoke sessions. But, while the pair might be super close off-screen, there are still some boundaries they are unwilling to cross — at least in Lee’s case.
Recently, Lee opened up about his most “awkward” and “embarrassing” moment on the XO, Kitty set, and, well, let’s just say it all boiled down to his older sister’s presence. Speaking to Netflix, the 27-year-old admitted that having his sister on set while he was filming one particular scene from the show made him cringe beyond words.
The scene in question is Min Ho’s first kiss with Madison, played by Jocelyn Shelfo. “I didn’t want her to be there, and, oh my gosh, it was just so awkward,” Lee says of the moment. Without even mentioning any specifics, Lee’s introduction immediately prompts a couple of giggly “ohs” and “yeahs” from Kim.
“I [could] see Gia all the way there, behind the DJ booth set,” the actor continued. Though he told his sister to go away while he filmed the scene, she politely declined. “She was like, ‘No!’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean, no?! You want to see your brother kiss someone?’ I think that was my foremost awkward and embarrassing moment.”
Not content with just recounting the story on video, Lee also weighed in on the comment section of the post to add emphasis to how awkward the situation was for him. How so? With a handful of facepalm emojis. (Let’s just hope Kim wasn’t present for that dream scene with Anna Cathcart’s Kitty….)
