Zendaya’s Stylist Law Roach Addressed Rumors About Viral Video
Celebrity stylist Law Roach is breaking down what happened in the viral video of him and Zendaya that caused commotion online.
Law, who has styled countless A-list celebrities — Anya Taylor-Joy, Tiffany Haddish, Anne Hathaway, Lizzo, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, to name a few — has been the talk of the fashion world this week after he announced his abrupt retirement from styling.
A video that surfaced from Paris Fashion Week earlier this month made its rounds online after it showed a seemingly tense moment when Zendaya and Law arrived at the Louis Vuitton show together. Zendaya recently became an ambassador for the luxury brand. In the clip, Zendaya sits down in the only remaining front-row seat next to Emma Stone, and Law is shown looking confused as to where he should sit. Zendaya then points to the seat behind her and a visibly stressed Law stands in confusion for a moment.
Many people speculated that the moment was the last straw for Law, who ultimately announced his retirement on Instagram just days after. But he’s now clearing the air on those rumors, and other theories that he and Zendaya won’t be working together anymore.
In an interview with The Cut, Law said he and Zendaya were running late to the Louis Vuitton show because of traffic and explained that’s why they were both visibly flustered.
“It was a lot of anxiety, because Zendaya is really respectful and she doesn’t like people to have to wait on her, and so it was just anxiety,” Law explained. “I’m always used to sitting next to her. And so, in my mind, my seat was next to her. So when I got there and it wasn’t, you know, it wasn’t a problem, but there was nobody to tell me where my actual seat was.”
Law then said that Zendaya pointed to the seat behind her, which is where her assistant would be sitting, not gesturing to where Law should sit.
“And so I was standing there — I was really just kind of confused. And remember, we had just made a mad dash to get there, so it’s anxiety, like, you sweating,” Law continued. “I’m coming from a house where I know where my seat is, right? It’s right next to her, and it’s always right next to her, because that’s part of our relationship and our interaction, seeing the clothes together.”
He continued: “That became really tough, because it made people think that Zendaya wasn’t taking care of me and wasn’t making sure I was taken care of.”
Law also explained that he did not have any issues with Delphine Arnault — the CEO of Christian Dior and daughter of LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault — who was sitting on the other side of Zendaya.
“There’s no beef with LVMH. Delphine and the Arnault family have been so kind to me,” Law said, addressing rumors that he took issue with Delphine not giving up her seat.
