Billie Eilish Said She’s Attracted to Women “For Real”

Billie Eilish opened up about her relationship to women and womanhood in a new interview, saying she’s physically attracted to women.

“I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well,” Eilish told Variety, reflecting on her relationship to other women. “I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.”

The singer continued: “I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”

Much has been said about Eilish’s sexuality — from speculation to accusations of queerbaiting — and it’s something she’s actively spoken out against. In a 2021 interview with Elle, Eilish clarified that no one is entitled to an explanation about her sexuality, saying people don’t question men in the same way they do women. But fan speculation about Eilish identifying as queer has ramped up lately after she posted an Instagram story using a filter saying she’s “gay and tired” and seemed to hint at same-sex attraction in other posts.

In her Variety interview, Eilish also reflected on identifying as a woman. She said she uses she/her pronouns, but has never really felt like a girl — something that was only heightened by the public conversation around her body and sexuality as a teen.

“I’ve never felt like a woman, to be honest with you. I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m, like, a pretty girl,” she said. “I identify as ‘she/her’ and things like that, but I’ve never really felt like a girl.”

Notably, Eilish doesn’t label herself any which way, so so it’s no one’s business to impose a label on her. But her new comments do seem to put a cap on one question: she is, in fact, attracted to women “for real.”
