"I chose to represent the effects of depression on a person’s social relationships. Butterflies were an essential part of my project. The colorful butterflies represent hope and the relationships a person has with their loved ones; the black and fading butterflies reflect the loss of relationships as a person closes them off from the world. The saying "Don’t Let Your Colors Fade" means how a person declines or fades as the close up".
"Depression is increasing the fastest among teens and young adults in America with 10% of Americans diagnosed (U.S News and Health Report). Mental health awareness is important and needs to be talked about more openly".
