Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy gala is always a highly anticipated part of the night that honors music’s most celebrated artists. This year one of those artists was Latto, also known as “The Biggest.” Over the years, Latto has been working tirelessly to build her musical legacy, including freestyles, features, and chart-topping singles such as “Big Energy.” Unsurprisingly, the megastar was invited to perform ahead of the Grammys. This was a major moment for Latto, who let Teen Vogue join her and her style/glam team as they prepped for the big night.

“I would say my style has evolved into this bombshell type of elevated simplicity with a hint of Y2K,” said Latto, who takes her looks very seriously. “I wanted something classy for this event but still me,” she noted, adding that, these days, her outfits always have some sort of signature. “For example, with my carpet look, if you pay attention, my earrings are cherries — it’s my new thing.”

For the red carpet, Latto opted for a sultry and sweet Brandon Maxwell Resort ’23 gown, and a really fun Brandon Blackwood custom moment for her performance. “We wanted her to give absolute bombshell!” said Todd White, Latto’s stylist. “A look that’s sexy yet still classy and appropriate. It was important to [be able to] look back at this 20 years from now and deem it timeless.” Todd accomplished just that, down to the Jimmy Choo heels, and jewels by Yessayan, Alexis Bittar, and David Yurman.

After Todd confirmed the overall look, Latto’s glam team solidified her hair and makeup. Latto’s hairstylist, Keshaun Williamson, better known as “the Lace Assassin,” shared that he prepped his client’s hair with Beyond the Zone’s Turn Up the Heat Protection Spray “to prevent heat damage when using hot tools.” He added, “Since glam is built off of the outfit, and the look itself was so powerful, we chose to go minimal and fresh-faced.”
