Ice Spice Perfectly Blended Mermaid & Barbiecore in All-Pink Blumarine Look | Teen Vogue
Teen Vogue cover star Ice Spice has artfully demonstrated a perfect amalgamation of the two reigning trending styles from summer 2023 in a new set of Instagram photos.
If you have spent some time on the internet this season, you’d agree that two most popular trends of the summer have been Barbiecore and mermaidcore. Sometimes, the trends have even crossed each other’s intersection. Cue: Dua Lipa’s character in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. But if you’re not into wearing a teal blue bikini and sparkling in the water next to John Cena, maybe look to Ice Spice for inspiration instead.
In her latest IG carousel, Ice Spice is seen wearing a Barbie-pink set with a bralette top and matching skirt, both by Blumarine. The fabric of the skirt hugs her waist and contours her legs giving it the classic mermaid tail shape, perfect for the trend. The bra top, on the other hand, features a shell-like crocheted pattern similar to what we are used to seeing in popular portrayals of the mythical creature; just look at Ariel.

Leave it to Ice to bring this look to the next level, though. Not only is she rocking the outfit, but she’s also accessorized from head to toe. To add a bit of flair to the look, she added a dramatic pink jacket, and around her shoulder is her trusty Balenciaga bag, also in a matching pink color. Her trademark ginger hair was also styled for the occasion, cascading all over her torso and culminating mid-thigh in one of the sleekest straight ‘dos we’ve ever seen. The decked-out look is completed with a pair of chunky combat boots.
The drama doesn’t end there, though. The 23-year-old added more bling to the look with her trusty “Princess” necklace draped around her collarbone. This single word encapsulates the entire essence of the full ensemble. We’re obsessed!
