Jennifer Lawrence is finally clearing up the rumors that she would purposefully eat smelly foods like tuna and garlic before kissing scenes with Hunger Games co-star Liam Hemsworth.

In a recent episode of First We Feast’s hot wing-eating interview show, Hot Ones, Lawrence, 32, talked about Hemsworth’s comments from nearly 10 years ago about her bad breath.

“It was not intentional,” Lawrence said when host Sean Evans asked her about Hemsworth’s claims.

While promoting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Hemsworth said in a 2014 interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that before he and Lawrence had a kissing scene, she “would make a point of eating garlic or tuna fish or something that was disgusting.” Hemsworth, who played Gale in the hit film series, also said that any scene where the two had to kiss was “pretty uncomfortable” because she was “one of my best friends.”

But now, Lawrence says she never meant to actually make her breath smell bad before they had an intimate scene together.

“It was just, like, what I was eating, and then we’d kiss! He should just, you know, get over it,” Lawrence said, laughing.

Lawrence and Hemsworth worked alongside each other for all four movies in the hit franchise starting in 2012. They’ve spoken fondly of each other in interviews and Lawrence has also considered him to be one of her best friends. The actor recently said in an interview that she would “totally” reprise the role of Katniss Everdeen if the opportunity ever presented itself.

Lawrence is currently promoting her newest film, No Hard Feelings, which was just released in theaters on June 23.
