JT of City Girls Is the Face of Poster Girl’s AW23 Campaign
City Girl JT’s collaboration with Poster Girl for their Autumn/Winter 2023 collection exudes an abrasive yet luxurious vibe, capturing downtown LA’s concrete obscene glory. Ripe with gritty luxe, co-founders Francesca Capper and Natasha Somerville took inspiration from Renaissance pirates, the futuristic ice age, and their muse JT to create their fantasy world.
The campaign features the queen of thin brows, Gabriette, the face of Tom Ford Beauty Daphne Groeneveld, and rap superstar JT perusing palm trees growing through the pavement and seedy motels stuck in the 70s. The spectacle that is Capper and Somerville’s creative direction showcases slutty glamour against the oppressive California backdrop.
Capper and Somerville create their world and innovate their signature micro mesh with a new pearl chainmail technique developed in-house. Roused by the romantic abundance of Spring, pieces like the “Whorne Bag” are refreshed with pearl-embedded hardware and faux fur. This season, wide lattice stripes, fine mesh, and flocked control wear are also introduced as new shapewear categories.
The raw, unsaturated images reminiscent of early 2000s digital photography were captured by Moni Haworth, who’s no stranger to this style. The dirty coquette designs play on girlish innocence with elements like bows and lace yet give a sensual voyeuristic edge. Latex, once a staple of the y2k era made famous by the Kardashian, takes a more avant-garde approach. Like Loewe’s Spring Summer 23 runway collection featuring anthurium blossoming at the bosom, POSTER GIRL takes a more sensual route.
At the launch dinner/party powered by Cash App, JT strutted her stuff in look 17, complete with full Poster Girl accessories. At the main table next to JT sat industry professionals, influencers, and JT’s close friends, such as Parker Kit Hill, Justine Skye, and Kombucci. The night was full of signature cocktails, photobooth memories to last a lifetime and great music with sounds by MECCA and Memphy. It’s safe to say Poster Girl and City Girl JT had the city on lock last night!
