Since the beginning of August, MTV has slowly been rolling out the full list of performers for this year’s show, and so far, the lineup is everything. Stars will deliver worldwide debut performances of both new and chart-topping songs, plus some musicians will perform on the VMAs stage for the first time ever. One of the most buzzworthy acts set to perform this year are K-pop girl group sensations BLACKPINK, who are set to make their American award show debut on the VMAs stage.

ICYMI: the MTV VMAs 2022 will be broadcast live from Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Sunday, August 28 at 8 PM ET. Voting for fans will remain open until Friday, August 19 at vote.mtv.com.

Lizzo

Lizzo will return to the VMAs stage to perform a record from her latest album, the critically acclaimed Special. Throughout her career, Lizzo has been nominated for 11 VMAs — this year, the star is nominated for 4 awards including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “About Damn Time.”

BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK’s comeback is in full effect! After a two-year hiatus, the group is gearing up to release their sophomore album Born Pink, expected on September 16. BLACKPINK will debut the first U.S. performance of the first single from the album, “Pink Venom,” live on the VMAs stage. BLACKPINK might take home their second Moon Person this year, as they are nominated for Best Metaverse Performance, and member Lisa is the first first solo female K-Pop star and Korean soloist to ever be nominated. BLACKPINK are no strangers to firsts. According to @PopCrave, BLACKPINK will be the fifth-ever girl group to perform at the VMAs.

Jack Harlow

The last time Jack Harlow was on the VMAs stage, he was sharing it with friend and collaborator Lil Nas X for a show-stopping performance of “Industry Baby.” Now, the 10x nominee is braving the VMAs stage alone for his first solo performance. With 7 nominations this year, Jack is tied with LNX and Kendrick Lamar as the most nominated artists at the 2022 awards. If Jack wins on VMA night, he’ll be taking home his first Moon Person.

Måneskin

Måneskin performed at the 2021 MTV EMAs, and is now making their VMAs debut this year with a performance of their single “Supermodel.” This year, the Italian rock band is nominated for “Best New Artist” and “Best Alternative.”

Anitta

Brazilian popstar Anitta, who is nominated for the Best Latin VMA, will make her VMAs stage debut with her first televised performance of her hit single “Envolver.”

J Balvin

Also representing Latin America on the VMAs main stage will be global superstar J Balvin, who last performed at the VMAs in 2019 with Bad Bunny. J Balvin will perform the world premiere of “Nivel de Perreo” with fellow Colombian artist Ryan Castro. If J Balvin takes home the Best Latin Moon Person this year, he’ll become the most awarded Latin artist in VMAs history, with six wins.

Marshmello x Khalid

Electronic music producer and DJ Marshmello will hit this year’s VMAs stage with pop singer Khalid, for a world premiere performance of their collab “Numb.” Though Marshmello has been nominated for 5 VMAs in his career, this will be his first time performing on the main stage. Khalid will make a triumphant return, as the last time he performed at the VMAs was in 2017 alongside Logic and Alessia Cara for their impactful song “1-800-273-8255.”

Panic! At the Disco

Panic! At the Disco is the fourth act set to perform at this year’s show, premiering their new song “Middle of a Breakup.” So far, the band has released two singles from their upcoming seventh album Viva Las Vengeance. Panic! At the Disco is a nominee for the 2022 Alternative Video VMA.

We will keep updating this story as news about the 2022 MTV VMAs breaks.
